Archive: 2001 Blinkenlights

In 2001 the Chaos Computer Club was working on Project Blinkenlights and asked for submissions for 8×18 pixel animations to light up on a building in Berlin.

I thought it would be fun to submit something and I did two quick submissions (“Genomix” and “Relativity”) that happened to both be accepted into the 120 or so animations that ran on the building.
Unfortunately it seems the original site and files are down but I was able to find a copy someone saved.

Genomix: Was a short animation showing a mutating plant because of radiation.
Relativity: Was a salute to Albert Einstein, ending with a E=MC²

Both were done pixel by pixel, frame by frame (with frame timing for each frame)
