Why Cascais?

Some friends ask us why we have decided to live in Cascais. We have the flexibility to live anywhere, why

  2. Outdoors: Ocean, mountains, hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails within a 20minute drive from home

  3. Clean air: Much better than most world cities: incredibly important for kids health

  4. Mild moderate weather: ~330 days of great weather.
    Never cold in the winter (10-18 celsius), never hot in the summer (16-26 celsius).
    *Cascais is around 5 degrees cooler than Lisbon in the summer because of the Atlantic.

  6. Proximity to Lisbon: While there’s more offerings launching in Cascais every (week month) we like to go to Lisbon for dinners, lunches, walks etc. From our House to Lisbon it takes ~20 minutes on the highway to Lisbon.

  7. Ok airport: This one could be a lot better and would not compare to major city airports but there are direct flights to NY, Toronto, Miami, Boston, SF, Dubai, Istanbul and most European Tier1/2 cities. The airport while not great, is small, very convenient (35 mins from home) and we get to our gate in less than 10 minutes from car drop-off.

  8. Community: always meeting very interesting people, incredibly nice Portuguese people and expats who are here for good reasons: outdoors, surfing, quality of life, family and other good things.

  9. International schools: 4/5 international schools within 20 minute drive (ours is ~10 minute drive from home)
